“The fireproofing on a nuclear waste treatment plant is important. Having the right contractor to
properly install it is imperative.”

The River Protection Project is the largest public works construction project in North America. With a $5 Billion budget, this project will provide new technology for the safe treatment and storage of nuclear waste through vitrification. Clayton helped with design, budget and schedule for this massive, fast-paced project in eastern Washington. The fireproofing scope consisted of 2 hr Intumescent and 2 hr cementitious fireproofing materials. The $25 Million contract included shop work in addition to the massive field application of intumescent and cementitious fireproofing. Clayton provided select surface preparation and priming of structural steel for both the shop and field applications.
